Negotiations began Tuesday between Canada and the United States to seek to conclude a trilateral modernization of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), following the announcement Monday of the conclusion of U.S.-Mexican talks.
On Wednesday, NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons joined with Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) President and CEO Dennis Darby to issue this release emphasizing manufacturers’ support for efforts to reach an updated trilateral trade deal quickly, emphasizing that the “unprecedented volume of goods flowing between the three countries and significant integration of operations …makes a trilateral agreement an imperative” that is also critical to expand our regional alliances in the face of global challenges.
