AWPA Member Companies worked hard through many consecutive Congressional sessions to finally get the ENFORCE Act passed last year, and the legislation is working. Customs and Border Patrol (CPB) is exercising it’s authority under the Enforce and Protect Act (EAPA) to address transshipment to evade antidumping duty orders for wire hangers from China. CPB has released a final determination that hangers have been transshipped through Thailand, and a preliminary finding that they have been transshipped through Malaysia.
“Combined, these EAPA investigations on wire hangers have resulted in CBP preventing evasion of over $33 million dollars in unpaid antidumping duties annually,” said Acting CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan.
