Customs Fraud and the Fighting Trade Cheats Act (FTCA)
Registration is still available by contacting the AWPA Office directly.
Please join AWPA for an educational webinar on Thursday, May 23 at 1:00pm ET to learn more about Customs fraud and policy tools and proposals to prevent it. You will hear firsthand about the benefits and challenges of the Enforce and Protect Act (EAPA) petition process from M&B Metal Products President Milton Magnus, followed by AWPA General Counsel Fred Waite, who will discuss some recommendations for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to further improve the EAPA process.
Kelley Drye & Warren’s Dustin Painter will then discuss the Fighting Trade Cheats Act (FTCA), a bipartisan, bicameral bill designed to enhance CBP’s enforcement tools to penalize bad actors that engage in Customs fraud. You’ll hear about the rationale behind the bill, the novel tools it puts forward, and the legislative outlook.
Many of you are familiar with the FTCA and may recall that one of our “asks” during the September 2023 Government Affairs Conference was for Members of Congress to co-sponsor the bill. This webinar will provide a “deeper dive” to inform future conversations with legislators and staff on this important bill. We urge all AWPA members to join the webinar on this critical subject.
This webinar to free to all AWPA member company representatives. Register today!
